Index points, first published fiscal year = 100. Periods are federal fiscal years, October to September. Awards column is the sample behind each period; a partial year had not ended when the index was computed, a thin sample has fewer than 30 awards, and incomplete coverage marks a fiscal year whose award records are only partly loaded, so its median describes a different mix of awards and the movement into or out of it is not a price change.

Methodology

Each index tracks the median current award value for a fixed benchmark category, rebased so that the first published period equals 100.

The cohort definition is held constant across periods, so movement reflects award values rather than a changing mix of contracts. A period is published only when its underlying benchmark snapshot met the minimum sample size. Revisions are issued as new dated vintages; previously published vintages remain retrievable.
